The Facilities & Infrastructure operational team is an essential link in supporting the growth of Imec and is looking for a people manager to lead this department.

What you will do

Interested in this opportunity to join a unique organisation that has grown into a world player in the field of nanotechnology R&D? 

Based in the HQ in Leuven, Belgium, you’ll become part of a team of over 5000 passionate researchers and technical experts that makes the impossible possible. You will lead the teams that manage and maintain all technical assets of our Leuven cleanrooms, laboratories, and office buildings, and that manage the installation of new equipment in our chip production pilot-lines. The estimated value of the technical assets you will manage and maintain is 500M.   

  • You lead the management team of Operations and Maintenance within Facilities and Infrastructures in Leuven, who in turn manage teams of engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
  • Your teams are responsible for Process System Engineering and Control, Reliability and Maintenance Engineering, Maintenance, Shutdown management and Root Cause Analysis.
  • You set up your teams and operations for the steep growth curve of imec and make sure they can keep up with the pace of growth in number of technical facilities and lab spaces and office buildings.
  • You are accountable for responsible and careful deployment of a very broad scope of technical facilities: Gases, Cooling Water, HVAC, Exhaust Systems, High Purity Water, Wastewater Treatment, Gas Detection, Electricity, Automation, ...
  • You ensure full compliance with safety, quality and sustainability standards in line with Seveso Light and Environmental regulatory requirements.
  • You ensure high uptime of all facilities and manage towards continuous improvement.
  • You manage the relations with all relevant internal and external stakeholders. You build bridges and shared agendas with cleanroom and lab management, the EHS team, finance and procurement teams.
  • You manage a budget of 10M.

Who you are

  • You have a master’s degree in a technical field with strong analytical skills.
  • You have experience in a technical management role a high-tech or production environment and have strong knowledge of facilities relevant to this role.
  • You are an involved people manager, excelling in collaboration and engaging teams.
  • You know how to define ambitious goals and translate these into operational objectives and change management projects for your teams.
  • You steer towards high sense of accountability but pragmatic problem-solving and you stand for continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • You would never compromise safety.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English.
