Hardware Engineer Epitaxy Lab Tools
What you will do
You will join our Lab Operations & Coordination department as a Hardware Engineer and help us to make the impossible possible! As a member of our XLSO group (XPLORE Lab Support and Operations), you will play a key role in maintaining imec’s 200 mm molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) tools, which are critical for several projects at imec.
As the Hardware Engineer of both 200mm MBE tools, you are responsible to maintain the tools (preparation + maintenance + qualification)
- You are responsible to set and maintain smart Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedule.
- You collect all required material and ensure maintenance of the tools are done.
- You proactively ensure maintenance of the supporting-tools (pumps, chillers,..).
- You ensure availability of materials needed for Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM).
- You maintain stock for essential parts needed for PM and CMs.
- You log all actions in the MES and other used platforms.
As a daily tool user/owner in the clean room and the lab, you report tool issues to the process experts and important stakeholders. You come up with improvement ideas to smoothen the work.

Who you are
- You have a Bachelor’s degree with approximately 3-5 years of relevant experience (equivalent to a Master’s degree by experience) or a Master’s degree in Science or Engineering.
- You have a solid background in mechanics, electricity and electronics. Hands-on experience with maintenance in the semiconductor industry is a great plus.
- You are willing to spend a lot of time at the tool.
- You have strong planning skills and the ability to work on your own.
- You have excellent multitasking and prioritization abilities.
- You are a communicative team player with fluent English language skills.
