R&D Engineer exploratory device processing
What you will do
Imec is leading the research and development of novel devices and materials that can shape the future of tomorrow’s electronic devices. In this growing R&D activity, we are currently looking for an R&D engineer to strengthen our processing activities in our cleanroom lab environment. She/He will be the co-ordinator for the development of process and integration flows for technology developments in the fields of microfluidics, biosensors and MEMS.
As an R&D engineer, you are the point of contact with internal and external customers and corresponding device simulation and design experts. You have a very deep understanding of our cleanroom lab capabilities and with your strong microfabrication background you can translate the device concepts to realistic process flows. In the next step, you supervise the device fabrication and co-ordinate the execution in close contact with the process engineers. Your responsibilities will include:
- You will be the contact point for the internal and external customers and device engineers
- You will translate the device specifications to realistic process and integration flows and supervise their execution
- You will work hands-on in the cleanroom lab environment to develop new processes and materials
- You will report to project managers on the process developments and status
- You will co-ordinate the device fabrication and the process engineers and assistants for a timely and high quality execution.
- You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the cleanroom lab's capabilities and identify innovative methodologies that can enhance the current state-of-the-art.

Who you are
You
- Have a PhD degree or Master’s degree with experience in Electronics Engineering or Nano-science/nano-technology
- Have extensive knowledge of thin film devices and experience with MEMS or microfluidics
- Have cleanroom experience and good knowledge about thin film device fabrication in a MEMS or semiconductor environment
- Have experience in project writing. You are organized and you can structure a complex project
- Have excellent communication skills, that you will use to interface with internal and external customers
- Can work according to agreed customer timelines and manage time efficiently according to strict project schedules
- Take initiative and work on your own, while being part of a team.
- Are result-driven and flexible to meet stringent deadlines with quality output
- Enjoy working in multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural teams
