RF modeling R&D engineer for 3D packaging

What you will do

At the heart of imec’s Connectivity Pathfinding (COP) department, the Demonstrator Architect (DEAR) unit leads the charge in redefining chiplet connectivity for next-generation AI, HPC, and Automotive systems, pioneering Chip Architectures for an interconnected future.

DEAR is seeking a skilled and motivated RF Modeling R&D Engineer to lead the compact modeling and characterization of RF passive components, such as MIM capacitors, inductors, and interconnects within 3D interconnect technologies for advanced packaging. This role places a strong emphasis on power delivery networks and high-speed interconnects and is closely linked to the European Chips Activity for imec improved 300mm pilot line. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of high-performance packaging technologies through advanced modeling and cross-functional innovation.

  • Develop equivalent circuit models for passive devices including 3D MIM capacitors, integrated inductors, and interconnects.
  • Simulate model behavior using circuit simulators and EM field solvers; validate, verify and calibrate models against experimental data.
  • Collaborate with design and integration teams to define and execute design-of-experiment (DOE) strategies.
  • Continuously refine models to support co-optimization efforts between device and system technology teams.
  • Create comprehensive documentation including model specifications, validation reports, and user manuals.
  • Define and execute measurement plans to support model development and validation.
