SoC Designer/ Architect

What you will do

Compute System Architecture (CSA) is a center of excellence at imec for HW-SW co-design for future compute systems.

We seek an experienced SoC Designer/Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background System-on-Chip (SoC) design, with specific expertise in ARM and/or RISC-V ecosystems. You will define and develop advanced SoC solutions for various projects at imec.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture design and development of SoC solutions, focusing on ARM and/or RISC-V IP ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and system engineers, to define and implement SoC specifications.
  • Ensure the integration of various IP blocks and subsystems into the SoC architecture.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and methodologies to optimize performance, power consumption, and area.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and provide technical guidance on SoC design and implementation.
  • Perform design reviews, simulations, and verification to ensure the quality and reliability of the SoC designs.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in SoC design, ARM, and RISC-V technologies, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation within the team.

Who you are

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering.
  • Proven experience in SoC architecture design, with a focus on ARM and/or RISC-V IP ecosystem
  • Strong understanding of digital design principles, microarchitecture, and system-level design.
  • Proficiency in hardware description languages (HDL) such as SystemVerilog/Verilog or VHDL.
  • Experience with SoC design tools and methodologies, including simulation, synthesis, and verification.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge & experience with good software/hardware engineering practices (e.g., quality, version control, CI/unit-tests, …).
  • You enjoy being hands-on and working with and mentoring like-minded junior colleagues, promoting a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
