Store technology centers

With data being the new gold, the technology to access and safeguard that treasure is more crucial than ever. Learn more about imec’s innovations to keep the information age on track.

To increase the performance of computer systems, the time between the moment the CPU needs data and its access to it needs to be drastically shortened. This breaking of the so-called memory wall is the goal of our research in the field of active memory, where we look at ways to improve MRAM and DRAM technologies.

For the long-term storage of an exploding amount of data, we’re looking at non-volatile memories that go beyond simple dimensional scaling, such as 3D scaling of NAND storage, the replacement of planar logic transistors with FinFET devices and even revolutionary concepts such as DNA-inspired memory.

Read this interview with imec's Vice President R&D memory and compute, for an overview of imec's memory and storage roadmap.
